Snow and the seaside

Snow and the seaside: I still haven’t quite got my brain round it yet.

Is it bleaker by the sea than the countryside?

Or just because I associate the seaside with sun, outdoors and having a nice time?

In the countryside perhaps it seems OK to curl up in front of the fire and bunker down in bad weather rather than near the seaside when I think I should be out of doors so it seems worse?

Or is it the way the housing is organised i.e. around views and the seaside, somewhat absent in bad weather and poor visibility where as in a country it is arranged around the high street.

The colours of winter in the countryside are green red and gold whereas the blues, greys greens and browns of the sea and sky with the yellow/greens of the south coast fields are bleaker.  I lost my seasonal affective disorder living in the country side. I am yet to see if what feels like its return is due to the challenge of moving here and renovating work rather than the comfortable home or due to the colours and cosiness. Though London is often grey grey grey in the winter so is this better than that at least?

It is going to take a while to get used to it.
